What is Yoga?

Yoga is breath to movement and unity of being present through quality concentration and awareness. There are various styles of yoga to align with the yogis aspirations. Yoga originated in North East Africa nearly 10,000 years ago and was named after the homeland in Egypt, also known as Kemet. The practice was then introduced to Southwestern region of Indian nearly 5,000 years ago to help high-rate adolescents with behavioral problems how to positively channel their energy. In the late 1800s and early 1900s yoga was introduced to Western Civilization through the form of Hatha Yoga. After testing the market with Hollywood actresses, athletes, and celebrities yoga then became a staple in the culture in America. Since then yoga has been taught as a holistic approach to achieving wellness through concentration and quality awareness.

Being a yoga teacher is important to me because having caring role models in my life has helped me navigate through life. I hope to provide my students with the best knowledge, confidence, and skills to motivate themselves towards following their personal goals. While also building the necessary skills to help them become mature spiritual beings. I wanted to do the program to help advance my career. My overall goal is to become a full-time yoga instructor and help individuals strengthen their mindset when their perspective becomes pessimistic. My students will gain the confidence that is needed on and off their mat by breathing through challenging poses and making necessary adjustments.

Becoming a Yoga Entrepreneur is a personal and spiritual journey and I have been exploring different classes that have helped me make connections with my religion, mental health, and current mental and physical state. Physically I still feel good, I’ve been more active and intentional about physical activity. I also started meeting with a therapist and she’s been giving me assignments to help with my co outdated beliefs that I used as survival skills while growing up. Yoga has helped my spiritual practice through being dedicated to something. I have grown to deepen my relationship in Christ by making sure I put him and meditation before my ego and physical body. Feeling comfortable taking up space has caused me to be more comfortable with my presence. Being on the mat shows that I’m present in my current moment without fear of judgement from the outside world. Yoga helps me when off the mat by setting boundaries, being consistent, and living an authentic lifestyle. The educational part of yoga brings me back to the roots of my ancestors as well.
